How to delete comments Part II

Recently I found that my sidebar of some of my posts were down at the bottom of the page, and it wasn't my fault. It was caused by commentors who left long unbroken text/unclickable links in the comment. I tried to delete the normal way, that is, log into Blogger, surf over to the post containing the comment, look for the trashcan icon, click on it, and confirm deletion. Well, it didn't work for me, probably because I had tampered with the permalink (timestamp). So I had to contact Blogger support. That is another story that you can read here How to contact Blogger support. I finally did get a reply from them with instruction on how to delete the comment.

I found the month in which the problem post was, click on that month in the archives, scroll to the post, click on the comments, and there I finally saw the trashcan, click on it, and deleted the offending comment.

So folks, sidebar sliding to the bottom of the page may not be only your fault. You should check the comments made by your visitors to make sure they don't contain any long unbroken text/unclickable links.

  4. You didn't specify what kind of help you need. Anyway, your site mentioned that it is optimized and designed by a persumably competent and professional party.

  5. Question Peter: Once you've published a post, you should be able to still add another picture to it, should you not? I've tried and tried but no success and the post only had 2 pictures to begin with. Is there another way if you can get the HTML for the picture?

  6. That is strange. You should be able to upload images when you edit your old post, but if you really have problem, you can always upload it to a new post, then copy the HTML and paste it into the post where you want the image to be. The first post where you uploaded the image can either be saved as a draft (better) or even deleted if you want, and the image will still remain.

  7. Hi,

on your site.Do you tell how to delete this somewhere on the site?
Disturbing that someone can add whatever they want :(

  11. In the blog Dashboard, click SETTINGS > COMMENTS and tick the HIDE BACKLINKS radio button.

  12. My sidebar is currently all the way down at the bottom of the page! I looked at my comments and did not find anything that might need to be deleted like you mentioned. Do you know what I can do to get my sidebar back up on my page?

  15. Hi Kabba,

Once a comment is deleted whether by the blog owner or by the author, there is no way to view the deleted comment.

  16. Hi Kabba,

Forgot about this. If you moderate comment via email notification, and you have not deleted that email, you can always go back to your inbox, open that email and read the comment there.

  17. hey thanks for your reply peter...
i had not moderated the comments before...
so is there any chance where in i can view deleted comments otherwise??

  18. Hi Kabba,

I am afraid the news is not good. If you don't moderate comment via email, you will have no record of the deleted comment anywhere.

  20. This post just saved me from a heartache this morning. I opened my blog and was shocked to find out that my side bar with all the beautiful elements it contained has gone to the bottom of my posts. It was terrifying. I thought that my template has gotten corrupted, and six months labour is about to be lost. I remembered your blog because I bookmarked it in my browser.
I'm glad this post solved my problem which was caused by an UNCLICKABLE link. Thanks for sharing.
