email contact form for Blogger

I have created a special gmail address for reader of this blog to contact me using mailto link:
<a href="mailto:email address">Click here to email Me</a>
and I am fine with it even though the email address do get harvested by email harvester and I do get spam. But gmail spam filter is so good all of them ends up in the spam folder, so it don't trouble me.

However, if you are picky, you may want to create an email contact form for your visitors to contact you without revealing your email address. You can get it by going to Create a Contact Form for Blogger. I had originally intended to use it to demonstrate, but what I didn't like about that site was when I landed on the site, I got a message that IE7 blocked a pop-up which may cause security risk, and also the fact that one need to download a Webform Designer software which I didn't want to do.

If you don't mind that, and you want a contact form badly enough, you can go to the above site which will give you a link to the page to download WebForm Designer, and if you don't want to set up your own script to email you the form's data, you may also be interested in our free form-to-email service.

Update 29 April 2007: Here is an alternative for you if you have no appetite for downloading a program to get a contact form: eMail Contact Form Part 2 (click BACK button to get back to this page).

  3. Hi Amit,

Thanks for the extra info. I checked out the link, and that site require you to divulge your email address plus password, which trouble me. However, I created a special gmail address to test it and have added the link to the contact form at Blogger Articles. The link is at the bottom of the left sidebar.

So here is a choice - either download a program to get your contact form as described in this post or expose your email address plus password. I think the first choice is the lesser evil. Anyway, I am going to write a post on that and quote you as the source. How would you want it - a link to your profile or a link to your site?

  5. Hi Amit,

Thanks for your information. The site mentioned in this post don't require a password, but for you to download a program, which I am reluctant to do. The post you are referring to must be eMail Contact Form Part 2. Another reader also commented the same thing as you and that post have thus been updated to correct my mistaken perception. Thanks for the information anyway.

  7. Hi admin,

You have a search box and a link to the content page at the top of the page plus tips on how to navigate your blog for your visitors at the top of every pages. That will help visitors find pages in your blog.

Regarding a entrance page, that would be hard, and I don't think is a good idea as I consider entrance pages a waste of time. Anyway, one way is to set your blog to display only 1 post per page, then follow direction at this post How to make a post remain at the top of the page to make an entrance page and this will be the page your reader see when they land on your main page. However, the problem is you have made the search box and the link to the content appear at the top of every page, and that will also appear in your "entrance page".
