How to get free traffic to your blog

This is how you can get 100 free visits to your blog. If you are not already a member of BlogExplosion, join it now, then write a post in your blog with at least 2 paragraphs and 3 active links to any of the blogs below (homepage or individual post page, ie., permalink). When you are done, comment in this post giving the link to the post and your BlogExplosion user-name, and I will transfer 100 credits (which means 100 visits) to your BlogExplosion account if your blog PageRank is 1 and above, and 50 credits if your blog PageRank is 0. You can write anything. You can praise them, just describe them, or even criticise them. However, the post must be a permanent post, and not deleted after you get your free credits.

I have been getting posts with just a few lines and the minimum 3 links. It will be greatly appreciated if you can write more, especially if you find this blog helpful. I find this blog has been helpful from the comments I have received, and I have created a special post to record them. You can see them at Comments about Blogger Tips and Tricks (click BACK button to get back to this page).

The blogs that I am referring to are:
http://bloggerfordummies.blogspot.com
http://blogger-tricks.blogspot.com
http://testing-blogger-beta.blogspot.com
http://dummies-guide-to-google-blogger.blogspot.com

Important note: Those who are AdSense account holder and have AdSense ads in their blog should know that AdSense don't encourage traffic coming from traffic exchange programs like BlogExplosion. I have written to AdSense Help about it and they are vague about whether they allow BlogExplosion. I myself now do not use BlogExplosion to get traffic to my blogs which have AdSense ads.

Update 7 April 2007: Atul of Masti World gave a very good suggestion (see comments). Use BlogExplosion to build up your readership first, then put AdSense ads. This may make sense because BlogExplosion is a bit selective. If they find too many ads on your blog, they may not accept. Further, there is still the question of whether you want to risk your AdSense account.

  1. Peter you are right , Even I have used blog explosion but after pasting adsense i removed it , but new bloggers can try first blog explosion and when they get few popular than they can start using adsense after removing blog explosion .

  2. Hi Atul,

You have good idea. Use BlogExplosion to build up a readershipe first, then only put AdSense ads. Unfortunately, some may not be that patient.

  5. Hi Mr. Me,

Taking forever to get to the comment window, so I switch browser, and got to the comment box in seconds. Showed my recommendation to use more than 1 browser Why you should be using more than 1 browser and What to do when you can't download a page, upload photos, publish post, etc. is good advice, even for myself. If I didn't change browser, I would still be waiting to post a comment in the other browser (already 2 hours).

Anyway, I have transferred 100 credits to chicoroy and the message in BlogExplosion said the transfer was successful.

  6. Peter, Can I make use of this offer for all my blogs or am I just allowed to do it with one blog.

My other two blogs do not have adsense at this time.

And I can write so many recommendations as you should know by now - I always find help for my problems at your blogs.

But I can also in this time do with a few extra visitors and links to my blogs.

I have successfully transferred 100 credits to your BlogExplosion account. I have taken screenshot of the page as I did the transfer in case of any problem. I have actually asked BlogExplosion for some kind of acknowledgement. After doing the transfer, there is a page that says transfer is successful, but your username is not displayed, so that screen wasn't the screenshot I saved. Anyway, if you find that you didn't get that 100 credits, please comment again so that I can get in touch with BlogExplosion.

Thanks for the post and the link. I had tried to transfer 50 credit to your BlogExplosion but couldn't because while I could type in the username, when I tried to type in the no. of credits to transfer, nothing happened. I have sent a support ticket to BlogExplosion and now awaiting their response.

Please note that I am transfering 50 credits as the PageRank of your blog is 0, and I am acting accoding to the statement of offer which had been altered as follows:

When you are done, comment in this post giving the link to the post and your BlogExplosion user-name, and I will transfer 100 credits (which means 100 visits) to your BlogExplosion account if your blog PageRank is 1 and above, and 50 credits if your blog PageRank is 0.

I need your advice however on my gift blog. It was my first one and I have Adsense on it.

Should I rather remove it from BlogExplosion or should I remove my Adsense ads. I have not earned any money up to now with Adsense.

Another question: How do I put a hyperlink in a comment box? Do you have a post on that as well?

Regarding BlogExplosion and AdSense, AdSense Help is vague about it. What is definate are autosurf programs. Someone made the suggestion of removing the ads, then when your blog gets known, put the ads back and out of BlogExplosion.

  33. Hi Zephyr,

The previous owners and administrators of BlogExplosion were fairly strict on the quality of the blogs they accept. They have policies like if the blog have too many advertisement or were pure commercial blogs, they will likely reject them. The new owners and administrators may have carried on with that.

Also, I heard they have a lot of blogs waiting to be approved and they have a backlog. If that is so, all you can do is to have patience and wait or check if there is a way for non members to contact their support team.

  35. Hi Zephyr,

If you want to be a little "tricky" you can backup your template, including the Page Elements, remove the ads and banners, apply, and when approved, put them back again. I think they do monitor, but they have so many blogs.

Another thing, I saw a reference to Google ads. AdSense never made any specific reference to traffic exchange like BlogExplosion. I have asked them before and got a vague reply, throwing back the responsibility of complying with their policy, whatever it is, back to us. I have stopped putting blogs with AdSense products in BlogExplosion as I value my Adsense account. They never tell you why your account is suspended if it ever happen.

  36. Problem
Most die hard bloggers probably know Peter Chan , this guy has more than 3 different blogs, however, they are pretty much the same, it's all about blogging. I'm not sure why he has more than 3 blogs, but 1 thing I'm sure is this guy has been getting alot of money from Google, just to look at 1 of his blog, http://dummies-guide-to-google-blogger.blogspot.com/">Dummies' Guide to Google Blogger

The title already tells its purpose, it's a for dummies how to do blogging. Eventhough the purpose itself is for dummy, I don't think noob bloggers will like it. Remember the first time when I browsed this site, it was so messed up to me that I couldn't tell what is what? no color, no background, no table, nothing, just words and words and in no order. Another thing is this site is to target noobs, but it has too many buttons, links, ads , they could freak people off. That's why I said he probably gets alot of profit from google, smart move Peter.

There are 34 options on the menu bar on the right, oh wait , there are only 17 of them, Peter put ads in between. The site targets noobs, Peter puts ads in between, obviously he's trying to make money. Look at the content, they are completely messed up, as a noob myself, I don't think Peter is trying to help me, well maybe he want to, but he also want to take advantage of noob, well why not , I would do the same if I were him

Another blog of his is also for noob Dummies' Guide to Blogger. This site is pretty much the same as the above one and it's even more confusing. Unless it tells me exactly what I want, or else I'll never visit it.

Peter named them For Dummies, probably he knows how dummies book looks like. The differnence between dummies book and others are dummies book are easier to learn. Peter does it well at this point. On the first blog, he says only very basic things, just like how a dummies book should be. In the 2nd blog, he goes deeper into links, side bar , etc, that's good. However, as a noob, I don't think I know which site should I learn first, which site should be later. Alright, you might say tutorial sites are like this. But don't forget, even it's turorial site, this is a tutorial site for dummies. These are just two very messy websites but informative to me, whenever I go to these sites, I always have to be more careful as the ads everywhere, I don't wanna click on ads

    Suggestion
Probably Peter has put alot of effort in building those 2 sites, its messy layout may scare noobs away. what I like the dummies book is it takes you at the very beginning to the end. I wonder why Peter doesn't do the same. He can comebine 2 sites together, make a true Blogging for dummies site. I'm sure if he does so, his post will be posted on every blogging forum in the noob section. Then he will be as popular as Bilgate.

Another blog of his http://blogger-tricks.blogspot.com/">Blogger Tips and Tricks, this is probably the best one. In layout , I think this layout is better than the other 2, at least it doesn't freak me off. http://bloggerfordummies.blogspot.com/">Dummies' Guide to Blogger is competely messy. Another point I like this blog is its menu, clean and clear, easy to tell what it says. However, it also is its weakness, the Categories is too long, it takes a long time to view them. Of course we are not viewing them all at once, if Peter can simplify it, isn't it much better? easier to see, we can see browse faster to save us time.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are alot of people visit his blog everyday. I wonder what about whoever comment alot, Peter will do link exchange with him. This way, Peter's blog will be more excited as everyone wanna put a link on his site.
This is just my idea, if it offense you, I apologize and thanks alot for reading
Have a nice blogging day :)

  37. Hi Water Buffalo,

Thanks for the good words. As for the ohters, I started with Blogger for Dummies. But if you read the sticky post, it explain why I sort of "abandon" the site (trademark issue, this site is only updated very occasionally but kept it because it contain useful materials and it still receive visitors) and started Blogger Tips and Tricks which is now my main post. I started another site Dummies Guide to Google Blogger because I wanted to write something for complete beginners, trying not to assume they already know anything, hopefully making it useful for them.

Some like short posts. The problem with short posts are they often don't explain everything, and some beginners find problems. Some like long posts which try to explain everything clearly, some like short posts. One cannot please everybody.

As for the blog title "Dummies'", sorry if that offended you, but "for Dummies" books are very popular, and there are people who have problems doing things looking for "for Dummies" stuff, only thing is I can't use "for Dummies" because of trademark issue, so I change to "Dummies' Guide.

Regarding the ads, sorry if that bothers you. I am a pensioner who still have a son in college to support. I used to have another one in college, but he just started work and now perhaps my burden is lessen, but I still need money to employ a maid to help look after the house as my late wife is no longer around to help. However, I spend a lot of time on the posts, answering questions in comments and via email. I don't get paid for doing that.

Regarding, you considering the blog messy, I will appreciate you pointing out why you think so. I accept constructive criticism as it can help me improve things.

Regarding traffic, RSS and Feedblitz, it really depend on how many subscribe to the feed or email subscription. And that will depend on your blog content, how useful they find it, how often it is updated, etc. Basically, I think everything boils down to good content.

  50. Hi Peter,
I'll try to keep this short. Nice sites, they are very helpful to me!

My blog is just like a few days' old, just got it listed on google and some blog directories, did some ping as well, but the traffic is pathetic, it's 0, except for some visits by crawling bots. Is this even normal or did I screw up badly?

Therefore I am very tempted by your offer and considering blogexplosion first, then AdSense. Do the blogexplosion effects stop immediately once you stop putting their banner there? I mean, I am scared that later on the Google AdSense team still detect traffic from blogexplosion when in fact I have fully intended to ditch the programme and penalise me. Sorry for the length!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi Bobbyt,

BlogExplosion only bring traffic to your blog if you surf actively but there is a small possibility of getting free traffic from My Blog Directory by listing your blog there. The small possibility of extra traffic comes not only directly from BlogExplosion itself, but from members (like me in Blogger for Dummies bottom of right sidebar).

However, if you intend to put AdSense ads, do make sure once you add them in, do not surf BlogExplosion anymore or remove the blog or blogs from BlogExplosion.

You can also take part in forum with RELEVANT discussions so as not to be accused of spamming, and if allowed, leave a signature line with a active link to your blog or in the discussion leave relevant active links to posts in your blog as well as other ways.

  65. Admin, thanks for the link. As for your comments about Blog Explosion, I just logged into Blog Explosion and clicked on Forum and had not problem viewing the forums. OPPS you are referring to help/FAQ. I am afraid I could not find a FAQ but found KNOWLEDGE instead where there are more than 1 section including ask a question and others.

  67. From a quick check, for Chitika I am guessing you can't still use BlogExplosion, but best to check with them. Chitika is search engine base and target hits from search engine and they may want to exclude hits from BlogExplosion which is not a search engine.

For Quincy less clear, but I am guessing OK if your site is Microsoft software content based. But do ask them and hopefully you will come back and leave some feedback regarding your questions.
