New Blogger 3 column templates by Final Sense

Here are some demonstration blogs of 3 column templates by Final Sense. Before you make any changes to your template, it is always wise to backup your current template. If you are not familiar with that, refer to Backing up and changing New Blogger template. This post will also shows you how to access the template editor. In the case of Final Sense, to change the template, click inside the template editor window, press the ctrl+A keys to highlight all the template (or right-click and chose "Select all"). Click the Delete key and you will have a blank template editor window ready to paste the new template in. Click on the link to the template below, right-click inside the scroll box and chose "Select all" to highlight all the codes. Right-click again and this time chose "Copy" to copy the template into the clipboard, go back to the template editor of your blog, and paste the new template into the empty template editor window. Click "Preview" and if satisfied, click "Save template". Note that after you changed the templates, they may be a few Page Elements that may have the wrong title and/or be an empty HTML/Javascript Page Element. For example, the Labels are often wrongly titled "Ads" and there may be empty HTML/Javascript Page Elements titled "Text-ads", "Links" and "Feed". You can go to the LAYOUT and either put other HTML or Javascript into them and edit or remove the Title or click "Remove Page Element" to remove them.

  4. Hi Claudia,

How did you try to put background image in the content section? Did you use this method: How to add pictures as background to the content section? The post was written before New Blogger was introduced but it looked like it could work also for New Blogger. However, I have not tested it. Perhaps I would do it if time permits and post the report here: Testing Blogger Beta (now New Blogger).

  6. Hi,

I have been trying to use some of the finalsense templates but running into two problems.

One blogger will not allow me to paste the code into the html area, the option to paste does not come up, ctrl V also does not work.

Two when I upload the code via a notepad file I get the notice:

We were unable to preview your template
Please correct the error below and submit your template again.
Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure that all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: Content is not allowed in prolog.

    any ideas?

  7. Hi Siriannic,

Which template are you trying to use. If you tell me and give me your email address (or email me), I can send you the xml file which you can download and save to your computer, then in the template editor, click BROWSE, browser to the downloaded xml file and click upload. That should bypass all the problem.

  10. Hi! Ineed help... my blog www.khalelian.blogspot.com is still currently using the classic templates... i would like to transfer to the new blogger with all its new feature... but i like to maintain my current template design... how can i do this.. please help...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi Khalel,

It is not possible to migrate to New Blogger template and retain you old classic template. The best you can do is to save your classic template in NotePad. After migrating to New Blogger template, SOME of the customization can be added back to the new template depending on what it is.

Old Blogger will become less and less supported. You might as well try to find a template which you may like. There are now quite a lot. See

  12. Hi. I'm trying to use the FinalSense "Luxury Car" template and am having a problem with the header image. I altered their image and now when I upload it, it appears smaller and doesn't match up with the rest of the template.

    Thanks!

  13. Hi Mr./Ms Waller,

You may want to try playing around with

    #header { margin: 0; height:281px; width:898; color: $pagetitlecolor; background: url('http://lh5.google.com/image/.....') no-repeat top center; }

    particularly this one: height:281px;

Make sure you backup the template PLUS the Page Elements. See
Backup and edit New Blogger template

Backing and changing New Blogger template

or even better, create a new test blog with the Luxury Car template, and experiment with it first before you tamper with your actual blog template.

Please let me know the progress if you can.

  14. Well, I got it to work by adding a second page element to the top of the page. The header comes out perfectly sized there, except that it shoves the static header down and throws my columns off.

By the way, this is all being done in a test area. You can view it here.

Thanks so much for your help!
    Steph

  15. Hi S.K. Waller,

I don't see the problem except the picture you used for the header intrudes into part of the top of the main column.

  16. That's the design. See that "Area 51" text in the body of the test post? That's the original Blogger header being pushed down.

Thanks anyway. Your site is very helpful; I refer to it all the time.

  19. Hi Peter,
I've been trying to get the Butterfly template to work on my blog "Los Angelista's Guide to the Pursuit of Happiness" and I'm stuck! I've made two test blogs and it works fine there, but when I paste the code into my Los Angelista template, it either shows up as all yellow with no butterfly, or (if I change the background color to red like I want to) all red and the colors on the columns disappear. What can I do to fix this?

One note, it's usually fine until I add my widgets back in and change the size of the header text. Any help you can give would be truly appreciated!

  20. Hi Liz,

I am afraid I am stumped. I do not know how to answer your question.

It is a long shot, and while involving quite a bit of work, I am not sure if it will succeed and wouldn't blame you if you don't even try. Perhaps hosting the images for the blog on your own may help, but how can that help, I don't know since you said the template worked fine on test blogs minus widget. But when I am desparate, I will try anything. This post describe how I host the images on my own:
