Recover deleted blog -(undelete, restore)

Note: Testing Amazon Affiliate integration into Blogger.com's post editor with an iFrame to the left of this post (added direct from Blogger post editor):

Blogger has not too long ago introduced 3 new functions - Import blog, Export blog, Delete blog accessible via Dashboard > Settings > Basic (see screen shot below):

Blogger import export delete blog functions

If you want to delete the blog, just click on Delete blog and it will be done. Now Blogger has also made it easier for you to recover (undelete) your deleted blog. If you go to the Dashboard, you will see a list of your blogs, some of which may be hidden (at the bottom of the list of blogs may be the statement for example - "displaying 4 of 5 blogs" with 1 hidden):

Click on "Show All" and the whole list of blogs, including the deleted blog, will be displayed:

Blogger undelete post function

Just click on "Undelete this blog" and you would have restored your accidentally deleted blog.

  4. How do you completely remove the blog, so the address becomes available to use for another blog... I don't want to undelete it I just want to COMPLETELY delete it.

  5. The answer is right at the top of this post which I will reproduce below:
"Blogger has not too long ago introduced 3 new functions - Import blog, Export blog, Delete blog accessible via Dashboard > Settings > Basic (see screen shot below):
If you want to delete the blog, just click on Delete blog and it will be done."

Alternatively, refer to How to delete a blog

  6. this doesn't delete the blog COMPLETELY, because you still have the option to undelete it, I want to reuse the URL address for a new blog on another account but the address is listed as unavailable... how do I make the URL available to use for another blog?

  7. forget it, I resolved the problem using an alternative method

  8. Hello,

I deleted my blog in October last year and I am trying to get it back now. However, I didn't see that function you were talking about? I could not use the same 'url' when I wanted to create i back. It said that url is not available. So I tried to search but blog not found. I guess I have not completely deleted it.

    Think you could help?

    Thanks

  14. Ginny, your blog is a custom domain so even after recovering your deleted blog you have to ensure that you are up to date on registration (payment) of the domain with your domain registra plus the DNS settings are correctly pointing to Blogger's servers.

I site:your blog domain and confirmed that your blog is still in Google's index so looks like once you have those things I mentioned sorted out you should be OK

    ReplyDelete
  15. I am definitely up on the payment, it doesn't run out till next march so how do I check the dns setting?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Did you register your domain via Blogger and Google Apps? Do you know who is your domain registra and have you ever logged into your CPanel?

BTW I am in the process of publishing a free "Passwords Tips and Tricks" eBook as an inducement to subscribe to my planned "Blogger Tips and Tricks newsletter". I have a system of easily creating easily remembered yet strong/long password, a skill important to us bloggers if are to ensure our blogs are not hacked by hackers. If you are interested, do send me an email via my contact form indicating your interest.

  18. This is what is in my DNS settings

    ARecord @ 216.239.32.21
    ARecord @ 216.239.34.21
    ARecord @ 216.239.36.21
    CNAME www ghs.google.com

so you would have to sign into your Cpanel and verify the above

  21. Hi-

I've asked this question once before but didn't get a response. I deleted my blog and now am unable to recover it. There is no "undelete" link. I am still within the 90 day recovery time frame, but it's gone. How do I get it back? It was deleted in mid-August, called Renovation Is Always A Surprise. Any help from anyone at this point would be much appreciated.

  25. Hi, I changed my Google account email address and now every post and picture since April 2008 is gone. Is there any way to get this back? Thank you.

  26. Alexandria,

Check Never delete blog post and what to do if you did to see if it might throw some insight into your problem.

Did you delete your old Google account?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, I deleted my original user account. I thought because I added my new info & then made my new email address a admin on the blog, that I would be safe. Now every post on my blog since April 2008 is gone.

  32. Thank-you for the info. Much appreciated!

A friend lost her gmail email account, therefore the blog cannot be activated or opened. Is there a way she can get her blog back? Even to back up the info so she can move it over elsewhere?

    Any help appreciated!

  44. Someone has a blog name that I want to use and she has agreed to delete her's:) how long do I have to wait to use it?

    ReplyDelete
  45. That URL is reserved for her to reclaim and you will not be able to get it this way. Suggest you ask her to restore deleted blog then invite you to be co-author then make you admin and remove herself from the blog.
