Display images in larger sizes

"why is it that my images are big but when i upload them they become so small?"

When you use Blogger's photo upload icon to display images, you can chose 3 different default sizes - large, medium and small. If your image is very large, Blogger will shrink it to a smaller size for display. However, if you are in the COMPOSE mode, you can use your mouse to grab the edge or the side and drag-drop it to create a displayed image that can be larger or smaller than the default.

Alternatively, you can use the HTML image tag <img src="photo URL" /> to display it in the original size or use that tag with a width attribute <img src="photo URL" width="some number" /> to display it in whatever size you choose.

  1. Thank you for showing me how to make my pictures larger. I have made them larger in the past by changing the numbers in the HTML mode, but this clicking and dragging the size works so much easier. But the only problem is that you have to change back to the "Old Editor" in your settings, because it does not seem to work in the "Updated Editor" part. Or at least I could not get it to work. It would just drag the picture from the left, center, or right of the post and dropped it whereever I dragged it, but the size would not change. So I went back to the old editor section and it worked. Could you please let me know if you can get it to work in the updated editor. Thank you.

    God bless.

  2. You get better control over your photo if you use the HTML image tag <img src="photo URL" width="some number" />

  4. Will the html image tag work for photos uploaded from your computer--there would be no URL then, unless I'm misunderstanding.

  5. Like this one?

    <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jizoPL28qCY/Sr2X4KYOIwI/AAAAAAAADIY/E_bh6d01ZwQ/s1600-h/Imelda+Marcos.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 205px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jizoPL28qCY/Sr2X4KYOIwI/AAAAAAAADIY/E_bh6d01ZwQ/s400/Imelda+Marcos.jpg" border="0" alt="Imelda Marcos, the Iron Butterfly"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385627720519394050" title="Imelda Marcos, the Iron Butterfly" /></a>

Note that there is s src="some URL" in that code too.

  6. Thanks Peter, but I'm totally lost on that one! I need a simple code that I can use just to add the height and width coordinates.

  7. Come on, it is not that difficult. Just this code: <img src="URL of photo" width"some number" />

  8. For BBB,

Otherwise you will have to use the COMPOSE mode and just drag and drop.

  9. Peter, thank you so much for your time and trouble. I understand the code, I just don't know what I use as "URL of photo" when it is my own file--not on Photobucket, etc.

  10. By the way, drag and drop wouldn't work for me in Compose mode. :(

  13. do you know what to do if i want to show bigger profile image in about me section on my blog?

  14. Not unless you forget about the profile given by Blogger and make your own "profile" with a HTML/Javascript gadget which will not have all the functionality of the "real profile"

  15. Hi there I have the same problem as BBB. I have uploaded a photo in the PROFILE box but cannot resize it. It has been uploaded from my computer so therefore has no URL. I would be grateful if you knew how to do this without the need for any complicated code. Thanks Victoria.

  16. no URL? I just tested uploading a profile photo via browse through computer. I have found you can find the profile photo URL by going to VIEW PROFILE and clicking on VIEW LARGE SIZE.
