Countdown clock for your blog

Here is an example of a post which have a countdown clock with post title Countdown to Malaysia Vision 2020. I made it in response to a request from a member of the Google Blogger Help group. I thought I might as well make a post out of it so that more people will know about it.

You can generate the script for free from A free countdown clock for your Website. You choose the type of clock you want ("countdown to a date in the future" or "Time elapsed since date in the past"). You can set the year, month and day you want to countdown to. The default for hour, minute and second is set to 0,0,0, but you can set them to any figure you want. You choose the countdown mode (see Countdown clock help page. The is also a choice of 17 languages for the countdown clock. Choose the background color (HTML color code), text color and whether you want a border or not. For choosing a background color to match the colors of your site the following will be useful:
ColorPic and
Color Blender.

You are then ready to generate the script to paste into your post, or generate a link to the clock if you don't want the countdown clock on your site. You can also add it to the sidebar by pasting into a HTML/Javascript Page Element (click Add a Page Element in the LAYOUT). Page Element is now referred to as Gadget. You may have to do some adjustment to the dimensions of the countdown clock in this case. Later, I will probably do a demonstration and write more about it.

  1. Thanks for the tip. I tried other Countdown clocks but could not get them to work on Blogger. I used your example and we have success....

  2. I have blogger and no one of your tipps about countdown worked. When I copy the code generated the Blogger don´t accept this copy to put there!!!!

  3. Hello,
I used your instructions and the clock worked perfectly on my blogger blog. You just have to go to the Layout>Page Elements, than push the Add a Gadget button and choose HTML/JavaScript
Add third-party functionality or other code to your blog. Paste the received code here and Save it. That's it. I did not leave this clock on the blog, because I want something to be with picture. Try to find cut customizable countdown clock.
    Thank you.

  4. I'm brand new to blogging, but I gave this a shot and it worked perfectly the first time! I love it! Thanks!

  5. I just did this & added it to the top of my blog for a friend's visit. It worked GREAT! Just remember if you're on blogger, you have to go to page elements as previously mentioned. THANKS!!! So glad I found your site.

  6. Ummm...I have a blogger and am having a LOT of trouble. Can someone help me? I went to the "Elements" page and chose "Add Gadget," but I don't even see an HTML version, and none of the URLs I tried work :(.

  7. Thank you so much for this. Much appreciated that you're taking the time to help all of us!

  8. Thanks, it worked great.

  10. From Google Translate:

It is a very interesting code, but with much unnecessary information. I would like to tell me a script that only xx days remaining for an event. A phrase that appears.
Example: "Missing"(here enter the information from the script) "for the June festivities June 23, 2011 "
Since the phrases are in quotation marks "" are written by the editor. The code only generates the amount of days left until the event date.
Is to generate a code like this?
I thank your attention. And congratulations on your blog. He's great

  11. Hallo (: aber wie kommt man auf diese " Seite " überhaupt drauf, was muss ich da eingeben um den HTML Code zu erhalten ?
    Liebe grüße

  12. I tried to do it and Blogger said that the url contains illegal characters. help!

  13. I generated an iFrame code from the site and tested it at test countdown clock and there was no problem

  14. working fine..i need to find how to change the size of font though.
