New option for Profile photo: Upload direct from computer

Previously, any photo you want to use for your profile photo must first be hosted on the web and then you must get the proper URL. Got a question from a blogger recently who gave the URLs for the photos which she said when entered into the relevant field in the EDIT PROFILE page, resulted in error message. I tested with a test Blogger account using the give photo URLs and did not encounter any error message and the editing saved OK, but when the blog is viewed on the web, there were no photo in the "About Me" (Profile) section.

But I noticed something new. Now you can upload a photo stored in your computer for your profile photo. This was not available before.

Blogger profile photo upload options

I am in a hurry to test this new option (upload from computer) and hope if you have tried that, let us know your experience by leaving a comment. Please.

  1. Peter,

The upload picture option works very well. It will also "shrink to fit". I use it quite often. This a very nice tool addition Blogger has added.

    Doug G,

  2. Yes, Peter, it works perfectly and it's very simple, I've just tested it.

Happy new year to you and your family.

  3. Thanks Peter for letting us know this. Hopefully mine will show up now. =)

  4. It works great. PS they now have an add slideshow selection. Is this different from your July 14, 2007 post? Thanks for all the wonderful information that you have posted. :)

  5. Hi Kay,

Thanks for the feedback. Regarding post dated July 14, 2007, that will take time to find and check, but I am almost 99.99999% certain it will be different from this new slideshow you mention. That actually was meant for adding slideshow to sidebar, but I am quite confident I can add it to any part of a blog including the Blog Header or the main column (not in a post itself). If you are interested in that, I will take note of this and publish a post, hopefully soon. If you want to be alerted to it, I suggest you subscribe to the feed of this blog by email via the Feedburner subscribe box near the bottom of the left sidebar.

There is another way - Music slideshow with Fliptrack and this you can embed into a post, not with the Blogger new slideshow feature.

What a grateful blogger did for me
(no one should feel obligated. Everything completely voluntary. However, by doing so, you may also help your visitors find helpful information and help. You may even pick up various ways of linking sites there too)

When I do this I cant delete the photo that is there to add a new one. I have posted questions about this all, and STILL NO ANSWERS.

  7. I just tested and successfully deleted the Profile photo of another Blogger account and reupload a new profile photo from my computer. If you are facing difficulties, may I suggest using another browser and if that still fails, using another computer. This is what I normally do when I don't know how to solve a problem.
